Jesús González Teso currently makes wine in the family winery, which is always happy to welcome visitors. This cellar has a large 13th-century underground construction and is equipped with modern facilities to carefully process the grape harvest.

The underground construction, located in the old Jewish quarter of Labastida, consists of eight openings, two of which date back to the 15th century and the other sixth to the 13th century. At the time of the reconquest, the villagers were rebels; they did not want to belong to the Kingdom of Castile or Navarre, and they used these passages  to take refuge in the temple-fortress of Christ located near this area of El Olmo wineries.

The wines are sold under the brand names Gontés and Olmo34. Varieties include Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano, in different proportions depending on the wine, and the ripeness of the plots in harvest.

Across the board, Gonzalez Teso wines are produced via manual selection of clusters, however the most exhaustive control is done during the triple selection of GONTES EXPRESION:

1 – Select plots between 50 and 95 years old

2 – From each plot select the headland, high area of the plot, generally more infertile land and where the water stress is more evident.

3 – Manual selection in the vineyard, the defective clusters are left in the vineyard. We don’t use them to make lower-quality wines: there are no such wines here.
